RE: Bad Walmart Campers II

It was a concerned group trying to clean up an unsightly appearance.
You can't let those unsightly's get away with that. Make sure to get rid of the harley's with all the tattoos, they are really unsightly.

RE: Bad Walmart Campers II

...perhaps these excerpts from the RVUnfriendlyReadMe.txt will help AO_hitech understand...
Nope, I still don't understand. The act itself harms no one. If, beacause of their actions, someone else does something, then the actions of the someone else are the ones that hurt.
Parking, camping, etc. in a WW parking lot when there is space avaiable for such action hurts no one. It CAN'T, unless you are a camp ground owner and believe they would spend money at your business if they weren't at WW.

RE: Bad Walmart Campers II

..a lawsuit against the town for lost revenue due an rv park...
Yup, that's probably the only one. But it may not really be lost revenue. Would the WWs have gone there otherwise? I think not, but I guess that is for the courts to decide.

RE: Bailment

I would think they refused because of having to move the unit around the premises and in and out of service bays. Hindsight is 20/20 and they did have a fenced and locked area for storage. Logically they did appear to take reasonable care and for all we know this was the first problem they have ever had.
I still think it could easily be considered unreasonable on their part to have not accepted the locks and keys. The owners of the property believed it to be necessary for security.

RE: Bailment

I wonder in the case that provoked this thread, would refusing the locks and keys be considered unreasonable care?

RE: Who shows title to CG operator?

Then there's the famous California "pink slip," which IS the title - and must be carried by anyone driving the vehicle. At least that was the rule when we lived there.
It hasn't been since I've been driving.

I still can't figure out who they are hurting. With all hate displayed toward the "Wally Warthogs", they must be hurting someone?
Someone please clue me in, I'm feeling very left out.

RE: Check Your Tire Valves - 30 Million Recalled!

I've never understood why so many people have such a problem with blowouts. I recently have one in my Jeep Grand Cherokee (i.e SUV) on the passenger front with NO PROBLEM what so ever (other than it ripping off the bumper cover).
How do people have so much trouble. I was half-asleep when it happened...

I can't see how the RVs in the pictures are hurting anyone. Can someone point that out to me?

RE: Fuel Rants & Raves - Post 'Em Here!

This is the reality - supply and demand.
The current price spike is not supply and demand driven. The facts just don't support that.

RE: Fuel Rants & Raves - Post 'Em Here!

"Oil companies are actively holding 10.6 billion barrels of oil hostage from the American people and this legislation would have required them to begin production immediately,” said Congressman Wexler. “While House Republicans claim they want to increase domestic supply of oil and gas to the market, by blocking this legislation they took a hard stand against the development of our domestic resources.
But the oil companies aren't manipulating the price of oil, and some of congress isn't "in on it".
What ever happened to those that claimed the oil compaines made a fair profit from oil (percentage wise)?

RE: Fuel Rants & Raves - Post 'Em Here!

"When what you say is many orders of magnitude exaggerated ..."
Nonsense! In engineering and science an "order of magnitude" is 10:1, a decade. 3:1 is barely more than an octave, 2:1.
You're not very hitech. And you're distorting.
I used the term in a non-technical sense. It gets my point across. Everyone here is not an engineer. Likely, less than 10% are. And, if we are rounding numbers, you were 4:1 off. :W

RE: Fuel Rants & Raves - Post 'Em Here!

The cited nuclear plant was about 1.1 acres/Mw, whereas the Carrissa Plains solar plant is about 3.7 acres/Mw, about 3 times as much...In terms of engineering, 3.7 in a pilot system compares very well with a mature legacy system at 1.1.
You claimed that a nuclear plant took almost as much room as a solar plant. That is not even remotely close. THAT is the point I'm trying to make. YOU WERE WRONG, PERIOD.
If I happen across other numbers I'll post them. But it's not my job to educate you. That's your job. You should be researching these things. I'm way past this point myself, and don't have much interest in recapping it myself.
You’re certainly not educating anyone here. When what you say is many orders of magnitude exaggerated one would be a fool to take what you claim as the truth. You are here arguing your point of view. If you want anyone to take you seriously from now on I expect that you will have to back up your facts. Your gross exaggeration has lost you most (all?) of your credibility. And if you don’t care if anyone believes you, why bother to post?

RE: Fuel Rants & Raves - Post 'Em Here!

To be rude I might point out that strawfoot is unjustified in accusing me of being 1000% off since the very figures he listed show a 6:1 discrepancy not 10:1. He was misrepresenting the facts, and you can check that right there.
the figures I quoted for Carrica Plains can be easily checked by anyone with initiative and access to an internet browser. And that's just an obvious one I was reading about the other day.
You claimed that nuclear takes up almost as much space as solar. You were WAY off. Once you are more than 100% off it doesn't much mater.
Anyone can write anything they want here. Since you have proven that you write highly inaccurate posts, unless you can backup your claims, they are just ramblings. However, everyone here is free to believe you if they choose.
And feel free to be rude. :W
Added: It's "Carrisa Plains" for anyone wanting to do the research.

RE: Fuel Rants & Raves - Post 'Em Here!

Are we to conclude all the figures you post here are off by over 1000%?
A very valid point. I for one, will not believe ANY numbers unless they are backed up. That goes for facts too.

RE: Not evacuating from hurricane, questions

I live in earthquake country. If I had notice that one would hit day after tomorrow I would have the 5th wheel 300 miles from here in a flash.
If they told you there was a 50% chance that a magnatude 4-6 earthquake would hit, would you have a different opinion? Cat 1 hurricanes aren't as life threating (to those with sturdy houses) as one might think.

RE: Fuel Rants & Raves - Post 'Em Here!

Yes. Vendors determine their own Supply curve, just as consumers determine their own Demand curve.
That's the nature of the Economic Game.
However, there is NOTHING to explain why the price has jumped so rapidly, unless you supply to the price gouging theory. If "Big Oil" isn't simply jacking the prices way up, then it has to be something else. Speculators in the commod. market does fit with all the known facts.
